Guilty Pleasures: The Carrie Diaries

When school is stressing me out and I need a little escape, I always turn to my trusty Netflix to guide me through tough times. A few weeks ago I was casually flipping through the recently added section and I stumbled across The Carrie Diaries. If you didn't already know, I am a HUGE Sex and The City fan. (I would consider myself to be a Carrie) So it felt it so wrong, but so right to binge watch every episode of this show in one night. Something you should also know about me is that I've never been too into television programs targeted at teens. I've never cared much for shows like The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill or 90210, but i do make a few exceptions. I love the OC, Gossip Girl and now I love The Carrie Diaries.
Set in 1980s  Connecticut, you get to watch young Carrie Bradshaw and her high school friends survive high school life. It's pretty much like every other teen drama: sex, underage drinking and gossip, gossip, gossip. Like it's tag line says, "Before there was sex and before there was the city, there was me, Carrie Bradshaw," so you really get to watch Carrie grow into the savvy and stylish New Yorker she is today. The show is filled with a fair share of wannabe 80's attire and enough hair spray to make a hole in the ozone layer. I applaud them for their attempt at styling, but even a kid born in 1994 can tell that those clothes are far from a John Hughes movie. But there's nothing like some poofy dresses on Carrie Bradshaw to make you feel inspired.

Jungle Fever

My two main goals for winter is to 1. not die of hypothermia and 2. look like Elizabeth Taylor circa 1962, so obviously a leopard fur coat is wardrobe must. Everyone should do themselves a favor and invest in this timeless print. Throwing a fur coat over any ensemble adds an instant cool factor. You can throw it over a cocktail dress for a glamorous New Years Eve look or pair it over a white tee and black skinnies for a rock and roll street style look. Even investing in leopard print accessories adds interest and fun to any outfit. Whether it's faux or real, leopard is a wardrobe staple for every stylish woman.

Check out some of my favorite leopard pieces:

Mix Tape: A Very Groovy Christmas

"Fuller, go easy on the pepsi"

The month leading up to Christmas is a very special time for me. Everything in the world, for that short amount of time, seems magical. From shopping at the mall to baking sweet treats, everything is so much better. Like many of you, I love Christmas music but sometimes I get so bored with the constant Michael Buble that they play on the radio. This mix is for the people who want to groove up their holidays. xx
WARNING: this will cause holiday cheer

New Beginnings

I've been "blogging" since 2009 on my Tumblr account and I've decided that I needed an adult upgrade. I must confess that I've always pictured my early adulthood looking quite different to what it looks like now. Ya know that fantasy where you're living in this cute apartment in New York City with your cute boyfriend and you're surrounded by designer clothes and you have a job writing for Vogue and Anna Wintour considers you a close friend and - you get the picture. Sadly, this is not the life I'm living. My name is Marissa Guido and I'm a 19 year old community college student living in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I spend most of my time online shopping and watching Netflix, so I'm hoping this blog will be a much needed escape from my boring life. The Outfit Repeaterr will be a perfect combination of fashion, lifestyle, music, food and everything else that I enjoy. I hope you all keep reading my shit. Uh bye.
